The Code of Honor and Dignity of a Serviceman of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Code of Honor and Dignity of a Serviceman of Air Assault Forces (hereinafter referred to as the Code) is a set of norms and moral and ethical principles inherent in paratroopers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The honor and dignity of a serviceman of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as the AAF of the AF of Ukraine) are the basis of military and public duty, as well as the moral qualities of a paratrooper.
The Code is based on the provisions of the Constitution and legislation of Ukraine, the military oath, and the traditions of the military community.
The main components of the Code are: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, honesty, courage, and discipline.
Loyalty
Service ethic is the basis of the loyalty of a serviceman of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For a paratrooper, the main values are loyalty to the people of Ukraine, to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to the Air Assault Forces, to his unit and to his brothers-in-arms.
A paratrooper shows loyalty to his brothers-in-arms by performing tasks with full dedication as part of a team.
The paratrooper always maintains the chain of command and does not commit any unworthy acts. Loyalty is an important feature for building confidence and trust. A paratrooper executes orders without discussion. Loyalty to one's commander is the main resource that an AAF unit has. Loyalty is the driving force for AAF personnel in combat.
Duty of service
Duty of service for a serviceman of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is unconditional executing of orders and following the instructions of commanders and requirements defined by the Statutes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The selfless discharge of responsibilities by each paratrooper is a significant contribution to the overall defense of Ukraine, protection of its sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of its borders.
Respect
Respect is an important component of building a disciplined, cohesive and successful military team.
Treat others with dignity and respect, and expect others to do the same.
Selfless service
Paratroopers must put the welfare of the people of Ukraine, the Armed Forces and their brothers-in-arms above their own.
While serving his country, a paratrooper performs his duties conscientiously, without thinking about honors and achievements.
A paratrooper must find a clear balance between combat tasks, family and personal needs.
The paratrooper accepts responsibility for his own level of preparedness.
Honor
A paratrooper lives and acts according to the rules of the Code.
Honor is the basis of a paratrooper's behavior and actions. Paratroopers have earned the prestige and respect of the Ukrainian people through their selfless service, honesty and personal behavior.
A paratrooper always keeps his word, he is fair, does not cheat, does not violate generally accepted norms and honorably bears the status of a paratrooper.
Honesty
Honesty is the unselfish performing his official duties by a paratrooper for the sake of peace and tranquility of his people, protection of the territory of his state.
A paratrooper cultivates honesty by following moral principles every day. A paratrooper can count on the trust of his comrades only maintaining his own personal truthfulness and frankness.
Thanks to the paratrooper's high moral qualities, his word is as good as his deed.
Personal courage
A paratrooper faces any fear and danger with with confidence.
The personal courage of a paratrooper enables him to act constructively facing the danger.
The personal courage of a paratrooper has two forms: physical and moral.
Physical courage is the ability of a paratrooper to overcome bodily shock and perform his functional duties, to act bravely in combat, despite the fear of being wounded or killed. For physical courage, a paratrooper needs constant physical self-compulsion and disregard for personal safety.
The moral courage of a paratrooper is the desire to remain dedicated to one's values, principles and beliefs even facing the danger. The moral courage of a paratrooper is often expressed as frankness. For a paratrooper, frankness means being sincere, honest and courteous to others. A paratrooper needs courage not only in combat. A paratrooper demonstrates personal courage in everyday life by doing what he considers necessary.
Discipline
Self-control and the habit of strict order are the basis of a paratrooper's discipline. It is a mandatory for all team members.
Discipline is an individual quality that allows a paratrooper to fulfill his tasks above his own interests.
Discipline teaches the paratrooper the ability to execute tasks quickly, accurately, in a certain order, in the most difficult conditions. Conscientious performing of tasks maintains military discipline. The paratrooper's discipline does not reject the initiative during the execution of a task.
An Air Assault unit consists of well-trained servicemen who trust each other and are confident that they can accomplish any task.
